Date Night

Andy and I went on our last big date last night to see the Lion King and go to a fancy restaurant. We planned a little ahead, so that we wouldn't have to cancel it at the last minute. We went to Elements on Mass Ave. in Indy, and it was wonderful! My favorite thing was probably the pumpkin bread pudding, but I also enjoyed my pork loin and butternut squash soup. Andy had beef tenderloin with spinach and parsnip chips.

Lion King was wonderful! It is just a really visually appealing show and the African inspired music with acapella singing was awesome. Of course there were lots of kids there and quite a bit of chatter, but most of their comments were really cute. I forgot from the movie that the warthog has a lot of potty humor, which you know I love! I like to think that our baby also enjoyed the music, he seemed to be moving around a lot the whole performance.

Here's a picture from our big night out:

Thanks to Carrie for the nice dress and April for the sweater, to wear on my big night out!

Christmas Music

I know it's a little early, but I just love listening to Christmas music and one of the stations in Indy is already playing it. Any song about Baby Jesus and Mary pretty much makes me cry, seeing as I might be having the baby right around Christmas Eve or Day. There are so many great Christmas albums out there, and my dad and I are kind of collectors.

This year, I have two new albums in my collection that I'm very excited about:

New Kids on the Block, Merry Merry Christmas. This was one of my all time faves when I was growing up. John and I used to listen to it all the time, and I'm pretty sure that my friend and I made up a dance to one of the songs. I still have my cassette tape, but it is almost worn out, so I was thrilled that they finally released this! Laugh if you want, but you can't deny the appeal of this upbeat album.
Nat King Cole, The Christmas Song. This has "The Christmas Song" and many other familiar carols that are beautifully arranged with orchestra and background vocals, in an old-fashioned style. My other favorites are "Adeste Fideles" and "A Cradle in Bethlehem." All in all, there are 22 tracks and you can get it on Amazon MP3 for $9. A steal!

This reminds me that Special K did a Top 5 of Christmas songs last year. It was fun to look at that and see if my picks have changed since last year. Perhaps we can do a Top 5 of entire Christmas Albums? Feel free to comment back about any newly discovered Christmas albums for this year that you are excited about!

Nursery Sneak Peek!

Andy put together the baby's crib, changing table, and book case this week. I painted the end table and rocking chair (that belonged to my grandmother). We have started putting things away and it's really starting to look like a nursery. We are just waiting on our glider and ottoman for rocking and storytime.

I just love the way it has turned out!!! Hope you do too!!!

Get out the vote!

Baby boy and I voted last week, but we wanted to remind you to vote today if you haven't already! The next time he will get to vote for the president is 2028!
